TRIUMPH SPEED TWIN
16th Jan 2019
Lots of dirt biking going on right now, but away from all the roost we're loving the look of the new Speed Twin from Triumph, a brilliant mix of classic and modern.
2019 DAKAR BEGINS
7th Jan 2019
It all starts in just a matter of hours. And it looks like quite a different Dakar this year – obviously we'll see as the race unfolds. There's a big job to do for the guys, though. Could this year be this man's turn for victory – Joan Barreda's? Who knows. But to all competitors: good luck and ride safe. Image: HRC
MILLION DOLLAR MAN
4th Jan 2019
Barely 24 hours now to the start of the AMA Supercross season. We're looking forward to seeing how this guy, Eli Tomac, goes. So often the fastest guy, the winner, but not the champion. Can he do it in 2019? Not if Messrs Anderson, Musquin and Roczen have anything to do with it. This pic comes from the Monster Energy Cup in Vegas, where Tomac won three from three to win the million dollars. Form he'll want to take into this season. Image: JB
21st Nov 2018
RUST has just come back from Motorcycle Live! (the UK's biggest motorcycle show). Great show and some great new bikes. But here's one we really fell for. Those Fantic guys have been busy again – and yes, we can visualise ourselves casually adventuring around the world on this, their new Caballero Rally 500. Styling...
13th Nov 2018
The ISDE is this year in Chile, a beautiful country as you can see here in Sarah Kinrade's image of Giacomo Redondi enjoying day one of the event. USA and Australia led the World Trophy class at the end of day one – two countries that are far removed from the European 'world' championship scene. This is their world championship you got to think...
THE DAY JOB
5th Nov 2018
November is a training and testing month for the AMA SX teams. Lap after lap, days at a time, refining skills and set-up. And it's super-important for TLD KTM's Mitchell Falk here as he enters his rookie season in 250SX. Rookie he may be, but the 19 year old looked pretty sharp to us when we caught up with him and the guys at KTM's SX season launch at Corona, CA. Image: JB
14th Oct 2018
RUST was at the Vegas SX last night. So good to see four young dudes like these, in years to come they’ll be remembering these nights. Hopefully while shooting the breeze between rides
24th Jul 2018
RUST is just back from a quick trip to California. Dropped by Milestone MX Park while we were there, saw this guy cutting some serious laps. It's Ryan Villopoto, he's been retired since 2015 but you wouldn't know it to watch him. Good to see he still loves to ride. For the fun, like most of us...
7th Jul 2018
Wow the big guy from Bologna has certainly hit form this year. Yep, since signing for Team Jolly Zanardo, Alex Salvini has been on top form. Seems he loves his Husqvarna – so much so he's topping the enduro world championship. He's a great guy, a hard worker and always up for some fun. Yeah, we like him! BOU'S CENTURY: Congratulations to Toni Bou on his 100th world trials victory at the weekend (at the Portuguese GP), he's now the all time most successful trials rider, surpassing Dougie Lampkin's 99 wins. Bou's 100 comes from 200 world trials rounds ridden, but in fact he's been on the podium on 145 of those. Some record. Some man. Photo: HRC
DESERT SONS (& DAUGHTERS)
13th Jun 2018
Editor JB is just back from Mongolia and the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy. Seems he had a ball, as always. He snapped this image along the way. Eight days of epic riding is how he described it...
21st May 2018
We're just back from Portugal where we've been riding with this guy, Pedro Matos. He reminded us of the talent that's out there, virtually undiscovered, at local level all over the world. Guys who can ride to an international level but because of circumstances never get to play major league. Local heroes.
4th May 2018
This is Dougie Lampkin, 12-time world champion and starting Monday (May 7) he'll be trying to become a 12-time winner of the Scottish Six Days Trial too. Last year he won it on one mark lost. Could he clean it this year? Great man, brilliant event. Image: Devon Steigerwald / Red Bull
VIVA LAS VEGAS
3rd May 2018
Being big AMA SX fans here at RUST, we're looking forward to this weekend's showdown in Vegas. Our money's on Jason Anderson for the big title, he's been the man this year and he deserves it. He's just gotta get the job done... Great image here by Simon Cudby / Husqvarna that simply says it all
SUNDERLAND AWARDED THE SEAGRAVE TROPHY
1st May 2018
Great news today, seeing Sam Sunderland being awarded the prestigious Segrave Trophy by the Royal Automobile Club in recognition of becoming the first Brit to win the Dakar Rally (in 2017). Sam was suitably delighted, "I’m absolutely honoured to receive this prestigious award from the Royal Automobile Club. I am so proud to have my name alongside so many of my racing heroes like John Surtees, Barry Sheene and Joey Dunlop. I have huge respect for everyone who has been a part of the Trophy’s history’.
20th Apr 2018
There's no coincidence in the the amount we feature Marcin Kin's photography in RUST, he's just the best and KTM's allegiance to him is well placed. Great composition here, looks like evening light playing over that beautiful tree. Nature at its best. Cody Webb there, on his way home for supper.
16th Apr 2018
We love our classics here at RUST. Now you can't see it here, but that red trace is left by a 1970s classic Coupe d'endurance racer. It's arcing through the famous Eau Rouge in the latter stages of the 4hr classic race held annually at Spa Francorchamps at the end of June. Not dirt, not adventure, but 100% well worth seeing (and smelling, and hearing). See our Scene section. Image: JB

HP2. A great model from BMW, just a pity so few of us could afford one (or can afford one now for that matter). 12-13 years on it still looks cool, probably because at 105hp and 175kg is so right? A classic for sure.
THE CALL OF THE WILD
10th Apr 2018
We love adventure bikes. You could park up four or five cars like this and you'd get no emotional reaction from us here at RUST. But these ADVs spark a feeling, a want to be out there experiencing the world, and for going off-piste (as it were). You can ride these all day, until you're toast, then next morning take one look at those wheels and want to do it all over again. Special things.
28th Mar 2018
Great to see Sam Sunderland in best form again, leading the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge after three stages. KTM are again frustrating Honda's five-man super team in what is one intense ongoing rally rivalry. Beautiful image by Marcin Kin for KTM.
26th Mar 2018
You want your ride to handle well? You gotta get the basics right first. Like tyre pressures. Our Argentinian friend here knows the truth...
23rd Mar 2018
Looking back at the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2012 here. Great shot by Ramona Schwarz. Free-riding by Felipe Massionave of Argentina
22nd Mar 2018
A reminder to all in the UK and elsewhere – entries for the 2018 Welsh Two Day Enduro open at 9am this Saturday (24th March). They fill almost immediately so it pays to be prepared and ready...
21st Mar 2018
While snow and ice has postponed RUST's latest enduro test, over in Finland our mate Jamie McCanney was loving the fluffy white stuff, enough to take control of the E1 class in EnduroGP 2018. Lovely, lovely image here courtesy of Yamaha Racing
THE BATTERING RAM
16th Mar 2018
On #FeatureFriday (that's a thing, apparently) here's an image from our Polaris General test in RUST #34. We're bike riders first and foremost, but just as most bike riders love a gokart, so we can get big kicks from these SSV things!
ONE STEPH BEYOND
15th Mar 2018
On #TBT here's Steph Jeavons back in March 2014 as she was setting off for an 18-month round the world tour. 48 months later she's just finishing that tour, completing her circumnavigation by returning to the Ace Cafe, London (her start point) this Sunday. Steph shows what you can do if you put your mind to it – and her Honda CRF250L has shown just what that wee bike can do, too. Respect.
14th Mar 2018
On Wheelie Wednesday here's UK dirt bike dealer Gavin Hockey of GH Motorcycles showing you don't need megabucks to ride a big rally. His WR450F stood him in £3500 and he bought the rally tanks and the odd other extra second hand. He then joined forces with some local mates to get his bike and support to Africa for the 14-day Intercontinental Rally. He finished well, but more importantly got home again having spent less than £4000 on the whole experience...
13th Mar 2018
Tea plantations are magical places (we visited one in the Western Ghat of India where wild elephants roamed) – never quite associated them with hard enduro before, but this image of Wade Young in Malang, Indonesia does it for us. Two loves in one image: enduro and tea. Does it get any better? Image: Red Bull Content Pool / Sergey Shakuto
12th Mar 2018
Classic (mostly 70s & 80s) enduro is picking up traction around the world. In New Zealand there's a thriving scene and each new meeting by the Vinduro NZ fraternity finds more entries. Here's a great image by Craig Stephens of this weekend's event at Maramurua run by Greg Power
IS IT SPRING YET?
11th Mar 2018
Kind of itching to get out on the lanes and trails now. There's sun today but the trails will be a mud fest. Gotta wait for just a little longer for the wet to subside and we'll be doing a bit of this (mixed in with the rest...).
SATURDAY NIGHT IS SX NIGHT
10th Mar 2018
Yep, beginning of the year, Saturday nights are supercross night as the AMA takes it to the limiter every time. Compelling viewing whether you ride dirt bikes or not. And tonight it's Daytona – special! Image: Red Bull / Garth Milan
9th Mar 2018
On International Ladies Day lets celebrate the International ladies of the BMW GS Trophy who'll be competing in the final in Mongolia in June
8th Mar 2018
This vast sparsely populated country the size of Western Europe has just a few asphalt roads, but is connected by a constantly changing network of rough tracks with occasional bridges over the biggest rivers.
7th Mar 2018
A little hint here of what RUST is up to today. Be nice if the sun did shine...
6th Mar 2018
On #TravelTuesday... Australia does some amazing 'big empty' landscapes, like Lake Eyre here. Stunning. Loved that Husqvarna TR650 Terra too...
BLUE ON BLUE (ONLY ORANGE)
5th Mar 2018
Its going to be one amazing MXGP season with Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings both on form. In Argentina this weekend they opened the season 1-2 and 2-1 – level-pegging. With 18 rounds to follow, expect clashes... Pic: KTM / Ray Archer
4th Mar 2018
We loved the old Honda XR650. We loved that it was so big. We loved it was kickstart only. We loved that it was just one big dog. A cool, useful big dog. We should get another...
CAFE RACER 2018
3rd Mar 2018
These Svartpilen things from Husky sure challenge our ideas on styling, but we can't argue with the photographer's composition here. Urban. Coffee. Window. Husqvarna. Nicely done Mr Schedl.
A BULLET WITH YOUR NAME ON IT
2nd Mar 2018
With 93 days to the start of the BMW GS Trophy 2018, here's remembering that moment when you see 'your' GS for the first time, brand new, with custom graphics and your name on it (and blood group – hmmm)
HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?
1st Mar 2018
It's TBT today, so here's our Tom Sagar back in 2010 looking like a road racer, on the grass. Special skills, for sure
HE'S WATCHING YOU
28th Feb 2018
It's not all about bikes in Inspiration. We love this amazing mural we spotted in Folkestone, UK
27th Feb 2018
This Triumph Scrambler, spotted at the Overland Event 2017 in the UK, has the spirit of Ted Simon running through it. Let's go ride...!
26th Feb 2018
...is a happy day on the bike. Just a glimpse of winter sun, a fun bike, comfortable kit, a small moment in time
